A nesting robin. An amazing spring gift

A nesting robin. An amazing spring gift

Looks like I’ve got my very own ‘Springwatch’ programme on one of my allotment plots. I couldn’t ask for a nicer spring gift. A robin red breast has made a nest on a shelf in my very untidy metal shed. At first there were 2 eggs, but today I counted 5! And the mother bird made an appearance as I was about to leave for the day!

I’ll have to read up about not stressing the poor bird out and leaving her in peace to do her thing. While I consider the sight a gift, the poor bird probably considers the sight of me to be her worst nightmare! I would like to see the chicks though … I’ve never seen a baby robin in real life. Neither have I ever seen a baby pigeon for that matter … I know what I’ll do. I’ll stay away but listen out for the sound of chicks and then hopefully get a picture of them then.

Take a look at the clip. I wasn’t quite prepared for what happened!

Here are the eggs! Two became five!
